01 / NEEDNasolabial folds and marionette lines - where to start?
Nasolabial folds and marionette lines are not just a change in the skin in the place of a visible crease. Their appearance is influenced by facial proportions, facial expressions, tissue quality and loss of support in other areas.
A description of the appearance or sensation is a conversation starter, but is not a diagnosis or indication for a specific procedure. The decision is influenced by anatomy, health, previous treatments, tissue quality and the expected nature of the change.
What might attract attention?
- a deepening shadow running from the side of the nose to the corner of the mouth
- lines descending from the corners of the mouth towards the chin
- the appearance of a sad or tired facial expression
- asymmetry of refractions visible at rest or while speaking
02 / ANALYSISWhat do we evaluate before choosing a method?
- facial expressions and the work of the lower facial muscles
- support for the middle floor and cheek
- skin quality and elasticity
- previous fillers and the risk of excessive tissue load
Not every visible change requires surgery. Sometimes it is more appropriate to care, observe, consult another specialist or consciously refrain from the procedure.
03 / POSSIBILITIESWhat directions might be considered?
Hyaluronic acid
It may be considered for subtle support of selected areas, not always directly in the groove itself.
Combined or staged plan
Sometimes it is more appropriate to combine improving support with working on the quality of the skin.
The final scope, preparation, number of stages and cost are determined individually after medical qualification.
04 / KNOWLEDGEWhy do nasolabial folds and marionette lines develop?
Nasolabial folds are a natural element of anatomy and facial expressions. Over time, they may become more visible due to changes in skin quality, tissue displacement, or weakening of mid-section support. Marionette lines appear lower and may affect the appearance of the corners of the mouth and the lower part of the face.
In aesthetic medicine, the goal is not to completely erase every line. Directly filling the furrow with hyaluronic acid is only one option and does not always give the most natural result. Sometimes the plan starts with improving the proportion or quality of tissue in an area that affects visible shadow.
05 / CONSULTATIONWhat does it look like to make a decision?
The conversation covers your goal, health status, medications, allergies, and previous procedures. Then Dr Małgorzata Osikowicz analyzes indications, contraindications, alternatives and possible limitations. The treatment does not have to take place on the same day.
