01 / NEEDExcessive sweating - where to start?
Excessive sweating can affect clothing, work, relationships and self-confidence. Before the procedure, the area and severity of symptoms must be determined and situations requiring other diagnostics should be excluded.
A description of the appearance or sensation is a conversation starter, but is not a diagnosis or indication for a specific procedure. The decision is influenced by anatomy, health, previous treatments, tissue quality and the expected nature of the change.
What might attract attention?
- sweating inappropriate to temperature or exercise
- the need to change clothes frequently
- limiting contacts and daily activities
- problem affecting the armpits, hands or other qualified area
02 / ANALYSISWhat do we evaluate before choosing a method?
- onset, severity and location of symptoms
- diseases, medications and possible secondary causes
- the impact of the problem on everyday functioning
- scope of the procedure and realistic expectations
Not every visible change requires surgery. Sometimes it is more appropriate to care, observe, consult another specialist or consciously refrain from the procedure.
03 / POSSIBILITIESWhat directions might be considered?
Botulinum toxin (Botox)
Local treatment considered after medical qualification.
Further diagnostics
If the history indicates a possible secondary cause.
The final scope, preparation, number of stages and cost are determined individually after medical qualification.
04 / KNOWLEDGEExcessive sweating of the armpits and botulinum toxin
Excessive sweating means the production of more sweat than needed to regulate temperature and can significantly impede daily functioning. Patients most often ask about excessive sweating in the armpits, but the problem may also affect other areas. First, primary hyperhidrosis should be distinguished from a symptom accompanying the disease or medications taken.
After medical qualification, botulinum toxin can be applied topically to temporarily limit the activity of sweat glands. The scope of the treatment, expected duration of action and possible limitations are discussed individually during aesthetic medicine consultations.
05 / CONSULTATIONWhat does it look like to make a decision?
The conversation covers your goal, health status, medications, allergies, and previous procedures. Then Dr Małgorzata Osikowicz analyzes indications, contraindications, alternatives and possible limitations. The treatment does not have to take place on the same day.
